Liz Makin – Development Officer
Liz joins SSCM as Development Officer, following a distinguished thirty-year career as a personal injury solicitor. She graduated in law at Jesus College Cambridge in 1992 and, unlike many of her cohort who went to work in commercial law for city firms, she was keen to make a difference to individuals and chose to specialise in personal injury litigation. With a strong background in serious injury, fatal accident and industrial disease cases, Liz has spent her career supporting clients and families as they navigate life-changing circumstances. At SSCM, she will use this insight to strengthen collaboration between our case management team and the legal profession, ensuring we continue to provide clear, robust and client-centred reporting. Liz provides bespoke training to our case managers to help them better understand legal issues, both pre and post settlement. Her combination of empathy, professionalism and deep legal understanding will be invaluable to our clients and colleagues, as well as those who refer work to us.
Megan Burton – Case Management Assistant
Megan, who joins us as a Case Management Assistant, recently completed her MSc in Occupational Therapy. She brings broad experience from working in both the UK and Australia, supporting individuals with complex physical, neurological and mental health conditions including spinal cord and acquired brain injuries. Megan has worked across a range of clinical and community settings, coordinating care and rehabilitation programmes, encouraging participation in meaningful daily activities, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams. At SSCM, she will continue this work by supporting our Case Managers in coordinating care, facilitating rehabilitation and liaising with professionals on behalf of clients. Her compassion, professionalism and commitment to person-centred practice align perfectly with our ethos at StanleySmith Case Management.
